An excursion to the Maïdo observatory (2200 m asl) and to the Mafate circus scenery will be organized on Wednesday 9 November in the early morning. The pick-up at the hotels in the west coast by bus will be at 7 am, so that we could be at the top of the mountain before the clouds, in order to enjoy the wonderful scenery of the Mafate circus. Then a visit of the new observatory will be organized; the construction works are at their last stage but the NDACC instruments have not been yet installed. (this visit is included in registration fees). There will be a 1.5 km walk (3 km back and forth) to reach the observatory from the car park. Visitors need to wear good shoes and warm clothes.
A symposium banquet dinner (included in registration fees) is planned on Wednesday November 9, at 8 pm, at a nice resort near Saint Paul (see below). Bus transportation will be organized from hotels to the dinner location. You will be welcome by a “Creole band” and could enjoy a buffet dinner with typical local meals and French wine.
